Unlocking Futures: Bringing Tech and AI Education to Tra Vinh Youth

Our initiative bridges the digital divide for children in Tra Vinh province, where limited exposure to technology careers creates significant inequalities compared to urban peers. Working closely with Eco-Vietnam Group (EVG) and local Community Libraries, we developed and implemented a three-pronged approach to empower rural youth aged 7-18. First, we introduced computational thinking fundamentals through Scratch programming, creating an accessible entry point to coding. Second, we facilitated career exploration workshops that expanded students' vision of possible futures. Finally, we taught practical prompt engineering skills using ChatGPT, equipping participants with AI literacy increasingly valuable in Vietnam's evolving economy. Through hands-on learning experiences, over 100 children gained technological confidence and practical skills that position them to participate in Vietnam's growing tech sector. This project not only addressed immediate educational gaps but established sustainable programming that community partners will continue beyond our involvement.NUSCratch

We taught the children in EVG Community Library how to code, using a block-based programming language known as Scratch. Together, we co-created games on Scratch alongside a collection of photos and videos which aimed to immerse visitors into the inner worlds of the children. Empowering Hearts: Uplifting and Connecting with Youths in Residential Homes
The Empowered Collective
Our project focused on empowering institutionalised youths at risk through activities that will encourage self-discovery and the building of interpersonal skills as they prepare for reintegration into society. We've worked with MSF Girls Home and conducted a series of activities with the girls, from arts and crafts to flower arrangement. These activities allowed us to bond with the girls, understanding them for their passions or interests rather than focusing on where they came from. The project addresses the challenges faced by youths who often experience limited opportunities for connection and self-expression, due to stereotypes of inability to change, academic or social underachievement. By providing a platform for creative expression through art and various activities, our project aims to empower these individuals and foster personal growth.The Empowered Collective

Empowering Youths
Working closely with ECO Vietnam Group (EVG), we wanted to guide youths in Tra Vinh to be more introspective of their aspirations and hone their soft-skills to help them achieve these aspirations. We have connected the youths through interactions on the ground, and worked closely with EVG to co-create a vocational training curriculum with artistic activities that will help them reach these goals that are also aligned with EVG’s mission. Our project aims to address issues regarding consent and healthy relationships through the creation of a card game. This gamification of respect and consent workshops hopes to enable students to understand the complexities regarding the concept of consent in an engaging manner. Through playing our card game, they should understand the importance of respecting consent and how one can cultivate healthy relationships with others. Crush Course
