In RW02 Gempol Sari, a neighbourhood in Bandung, Indonesia, ground-up community organisation Karasa.bdg has taken an initiative to creatively rejuvenate common spaces and alleyways to enliven its streets, improve quality of living, and promote community values. This is coupled with various new community initiatives like composting, organic waste collection, and a community garden. They identified a gap in connecting with older youths (15-18 years) and a lack of their participation in community events, as they view these creative approaches as juvenile, and are also at risk of being lured into common vices (eg. smoking), gangsterism and delinquency. To address this, our project works directly with youths from RW02 to launch youth-led initiatives aligned with their interests in fashion and entrepreneurship. We develop custom tote bags from upcycled clothing waste that can be sold to raise funds for community events, and co-create a unique card game aimed at youths that features the community initiatives launched by Karasa while promoting community participation and discouraging vices. We hope for this project to instil pride in the youths for their community and the role they can play.Omelettes

In Singapore, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Special Education schools often face social stigma and lack opportunities to interact with mainstream peers in supportive settings. To address this, Project AScenD partners with St. Andrew’s Mission School (SAMS) and Nan Hua High School (NHHS) to launch an inclusive pen-pal exchange.Grounded in Asset-Based Community Development, the initiative accommodates SAMS students' visual and focused cognitive strengths by encouraging illustrated letters, creative expression, and prompts centered on personal passions. Over two school terms, the project facilitates three mutual letter exchanges between paired students, supported by onboarding sessions and ongoing letter vetting to ensure a safe space. The primary beneficiaries are SAMS students, who gain authentic opportunities for self-expression and social connection, and NHHS students, who build empathy and awareness on neurodivergence.Project AScenD

Financial Literacy in Cambodia
Financial Literacy in Cambodia
Game The System
In Kampot, Cambodia, students and their households face the effects of one of the fastest credit expansions in the world, with microfinance loans now equivalent to roughly 60% of national GDP. Many families pledge land titles as collateral, and when repayment becomes difficult, they take on further loans, cut food consumption, or sell land, with children often bearing the cost through withdrawal from school. These pressures have weakened households' financial security and left many without the tools to evaluate borrowing decisions before they are made.To address this, our project is partnering with Singapore Amicus International School, a former public school director in Kampot, and LICADHO, a Cambodian human rights organisation, to deliver a game-based financial literacy programme. We plan to design and prototype a Monopoly-style board game, deliver workshops across three levels of financial proficiency, and distribute game sets for students to bring home and play with their families. We hope the project will build lasting financial agency among students and spark open, constructive conversations about money within Cambodian households across generations.Game The System

Project SEED (Student Exploration through Experiential Design)
Project SEED works with children in LIFE! Learners at MightyKids, Families & Community (MKFC), a programme under Life Community Ltd. Our early engagement found that academic support often centres on homework, worksheets and assessment books, leaving fewer opportunities for children to apply what they are learning through hands-on, open-ended tasks.Through our main intervention, Sapling Studios, we will complement existing academic support with project-based activities that allow children to practise literacy, numeracy, reasoning and communication through making, testing and revision. Planned activities include mixed-media and comic-making projects, poster and origami instruction design, science kits, tower-building challenges and longer Studio Cycles when attendance permits. We will also continue weekly mentoring at MKFC and conduct learning journeys, including a Science Centre visit.Project SEED (Student Exploration through Experiential Design)

Hue Hustlers
In Phu Vang Commune, a rural area of Hue, students in Ha Trung High School attend physical education (PE) classes in either volleyball or badminton. However, the school faces constraints in enhancing their PE programme due to aging infrastructure, limited PE instructors and a lack of other sports options. To address this, our project is partnering with Hearts for Hue and the school. First, we will support the construction of an elevated multi-purpose court for volleyball, basketball and badminton. Second, we will nurture student leaders through a collaborative programme centred on badminton. Working alongside student leaders and the PE teacher, we will support the establishment of student-led badminton clubs. Lastly, we will co-create practical resources on peer training, club management and event planning guides for students to start more interest groups in badminton or other sports. The project will culminate in a student-organised badminton tournament that we hope can become an annual affair. We hope to develop around 30 student leaders through workshops, to lead around 15 badminton teams for the tournament. Ultimately, we aim to strengthen conditions required for HTHS students to graduate as confident, empowered, and purposeful youths. Hue Hustlers

Increasing Access to Hands-On STEM Education
Increasing Access to Hands-On STEM Education
Seeds to STEM
In Dong Lam Hamlet, Hoa Vang Commune, 26 km west of Da Nang’s city centre, students at Ong Ich Duong Secondary School still have only a vague understanding of what STEM really is. The school’s laboratories are only partly equipped while lesson periods leave little room for hands-on activities. Moreover, the exam-oriented culture also often treats practical work as a detour from what is considered "important". With average household incomes of around 48 million VND (~2200SGD) per year, makerspaces and well-equipped laboratories, which are largely concentrated in the city centre, remain out of reach for these students. To address this, our team is partnering with the school’s teachers and the student-led science clubs of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted to co-design and deliver open-ended, hands-on STEM workshops. We plan to run extracurricular workshops, develop reusable, multifunctional STEM kits, and train local students as facilitators so that the programme can continue after we leave. We hope that students will gradually come to see STEM as something they can build and feel with their own hands, rather than simply a body of knowledge to memorise.Seeds to STEM

In Sitio Puting Bato, Davao, Philippines, many children, including those from the Matigsalug community, face limited access to consistent education due to transportation and cost barriers, as well as a lack of educational infrastructure. These challenges can affect school attendance and engagement, contributing to early entry into unskilled labour. Our project aims to get children excited about learning and encourage them to take a more proactive role in their education.Working with Hayag Farm School, Bamboo Bootcamp and Worldpackers, we will develop a series of project-centred workshops that combine sharing, ideation and creation. Through activities such as building educational toys, creating prototypes and exploring bamboo and other locally available materials, children will learn through productive play while connecting with their culture and natural environment. We also hope to create a cultural exhibition where children can express their dreams and imagination, while documenting Matigsalug stories, traditions and hopes for the future. The project will benefit children in Sitio Puting Bato and nearby communities by providing a physical learning hub, activity toolkits and an adaptable workshop curriculum. We hope to improve educational engagement, encourage continued interest in learning, and foster a stronger sense of belonging and pride in their cultural heritage. By developing reusable resources and a system that Hayag staff and future Worldpackers volunteers can independently run and adapt, we aim to create a sustainable learning programme that continues beyond our project.IEx Marahuyo

The Matigsalug tribe in Davao lives in a nature-rich yet rural environment where farming is the main livelihood. Our group observed that children in the community face limited access to consistent early childhood education due to physical, social and economic constraints. Many also spend unsupervised time online, raising concerns about internet safety. Additionally, through conversations with our community partner Rica, we learned of a gradual decline in youth involvement in traditional practices. To address these gaps, our project is partnering with Rica, founder of Hayag Farm School and Bamboo Bootcamp, to introduce enrichment activities to the children, focusing on culture, arts, as well as digital competencies. We plan to encourage the children to actively document their community’s stories after equipping them with digital skills, developing their artistic abilities and interests through an arts workshop, and building confidence for their futures through career-mapping activities.Ultimately, our project’s central goal is to cultivate a genuine love for learning in the children, in turn encouraging them to see the value of education and continue pursuing it.Kaway Kaway Sa Kawayan

In Hanoi, Vietnam, students are currently in need of more comprehensive health and nutrition education, as existing initiatives are usually one-off events rather than continuous practices embedded in their routines. Poor nutrition education during youth can lead to lasting negative health outcomes in adulthood. To address this, we plan to design a digital, gamified learning tool based on materials provided by our partner organizations, covering key aspects of nutrition, health, and sustainable food practices. Designed for easy classroom integration, it enables teachers to facilitate regular sessions to ensure long-term sustainability while fostering collaborative learning and keeping students engaged. Through repeated, interactive learning, students can internalize these healthy habits for life.ByteBites

LingoBee
Project LingoBee is a two-year English language education initiative supporting Primary 1 and 2 students at Phakhao Primary School in Vientiane, Laos. The project addresses a gap in early English exposure, as formal English instruction in Laos begins only in Primary 3. LingoBee aims to develop students’ foundational familiarity with phonics, pronunciation, vocabulary, listening and basic communication, strengthening their confidence and readiness for formal English learning. The programme combines physical implementation trips with remotely delivered learning resources, including progressive educational videos, worksheets and interactive activities. Working with local educators and partners, the team will ensure materials remain accessible and contextually appropriate. Physical check-ins, student assessments and teacher feedback will enable materials to be refined according to students’ learning progress.Beyond individual lessons, LingoBee seeks to establish a sustainable foundation for continued English learning. Reusable resources and structured handovers will enable local educators and future IEx teams to reinforce students’ capabilities over time. Ultimately, LingoBee aims to complement the existing curriculum by easing students’ transition into formal English education while developing a model that can potentially be adapted for other schools.LingoBee

Building Enrichment Activities to Empower Youths' Love for Learning
Building Enrichment Activities to Empower Youths' Love for Learning
Project Lao'd
In Laos, high primary school enrolment does not necessarily translate into meaningful and enriching learning experiences. At Phakhao Primary School, teachers shared that students have limited access to structured enrichment beyond the standard curriculum, while our survey of 86 students found that over 85% wanted more exciting after-school activities and 89% wanted opportunities to learn beyond their current curriculum. Our project seeks to supplement formal education through sustained Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) in sports, creativity and English. These activities will provide Phakhao students with opportunities to develop resilience, teamwork, self-expression, communication and confidence, while exploring their interests and strengthening their motivation to learn. We will also introduce students to different educational and vocational pathways, helping them connect their present education with future aspirations.A key feature of our project is youth-to-youth empowerment. Youths from Ban Nazareth Centre, a vocational school serving disadvantaged youths, will be trained as CCA facilitators, developing their own leadership, interpersonal and facilitation skills while becoming relatable role models for Phakhao students. Student volunteers from the National University of Laos will support translation, contextualisation and training.Ultimately, we hope to build sustainable community ownership across the three phases and benefit the students of Phakhao Primary School and empower local youths at Ban Nazareth to create a lasting cycle of learning, confidence and opportunity.Project Lao'd

As part of Singapore’s efforts to promote sustainability, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) plays a crucial role in educating students on the benefits of green commute through roving exhibitions. However, their current model of engagement faces difficulties in effectively capturing the students’ attention, where students feel a disconnect with the exhibition. To address this issue, our project aims to create an interactive game element to be added to LTA’s existing exhibition, to increase engagement with secondary students. The game works as a city-simulation, allowing students to make different choices in the game, where the decisions made will culminate in different consequences. Through score systems and rewards, the game aims to better capture secondary students’ attention, while ensuring knowledge acquisition in the process. We hope that the game component will become a permanent feature of the LTA’s roving exhibitions and reach secondary schools nationwide, and to ultimately succeed in influencing students to alter their transportation habits, and choose greener commute options.Moving the Community
