IEx students will work with a local community in Indonesia or Singapore who have a stake in a cultural heritage practice facing challenges - whether it's at risk of disappearing, being misunderstood, or represents an untapped opportunity for social connection. Together with the community, we'll explore creative ways to tackle these problems.
The most meaningful cultural heritage projects begin with curiosity and openness. You don't need prior experience in these fields to join this project, but I do look for two essential qualities in every team member: the ability to listen deeply, and the willingness to adapt. Success comes from setting aside preconceptions and approaching communities with genuine curiosity and respect for their perspectives. The journey often leads us in unexpected directions, so flexibility and openness to change are vital. This open-minded approach is what makes these projects truly special. By immersing ourselves in the community's world and letting their knowledge guide us, we often discover unexpected connections and creative possibilities that go far beyond our initial ideas. Together, we can create something meaningful that not only helps re-imagine cultural heritage but also builds lasting bridges between communities and opens new paths for innovation.
