I will be supervising both local and regional IEx projects on the following topics:Â
Singapore is a very complex space where different food stories exist across the farming industries, hawker centres, and restaurant businesses. It extends also into broader sensibilities about the natural environment and wildlife. There is a complex network that underlies how the different stakeholders depend on each other. In this IEx, you will be required to develop a broad sense of these linkages and to either strengthen existing ones or to facilitate new connections. Some existing and past partners have included Fairmont, Sentosa, Choa Chu Kang Secondary School, NEA, as well as other community farm managers.
Vietnam is a major agricultural producer in Southeast Asia. What is interesting about Vietnam is that, unlike many other places, the youths continue to be interested in farming as employment. Technology has been a key factor driving this trend. Carrying out an IEx in this space therefore presents an experience of this dynamic nature of food development trends in Vietnam, and explores how modern-day challenges of youth engagement, farming technology, and ecological sustainability may be addressed. Students in this IEx will be required to design a tool that allows them to find a place in this narrative/dialogue.
